Vladimir A. Sevankaev

Hero of the Russian Federation (1993), honoured test-pilot of the USSR (1982), captain (1961).

Vladimir Sevankaev was born on July 19, 1935 in the city of Osinniki in Kemerovo region. In 1953 he graduated from Kemerovo aero club.

Since October 1953 Vladimir Sevankaev was in the army. In 1955 he graduated from the 24th military aviation school for initial training of pilots (the city of Pavlodar), in 1956 - from Kirovabad Military aviation school for pilots (the city of Orsk), in 1965 - from Orenburg Higher Military aviation school for pilots (extra-mural). In 1956-1960 he was a flight instructor of Kirovabad Military aviation school for pilots, in 1960-1965 he was a flight instructor of Orenburg Higher Military aviation school for pilots. Since November, 1965 Vladimir Sevankaev was reserved. In 1967 he graduated from the Test-Pilot School.

From November, 1967 to 1996 Vladimir Sevankaev was a test-pilot of Tupolev design bureau. He has lifted in the sky (on April 15, 1988) and carried out tests of Tu-155 - the first domestic aircraft operating on liquid hydrogen. He took part in tests of Tu-22M supersonic bomber, of Tu-104, Tu-124, Tu-128, Tu-134, Tu-142, Tu-144, Tu-154 and their modifications.

In 1989 - 1990 Vladimir Sevankaev established 14 world aviation records of altitude and loading capacity on Tu-155 (3 of them - as the 2nd pilot).

Vladimir Sevankaev lived in the city of Zhukovsky of the Moscow region.

Vladimir Sevankaev died on May 2, 2004. He was buried at the Bykovskoe cemetery in Zhukovsky.

Vladimir Sevankaev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1977) and medals.
