Alexey Meleshko was born on February 27, 1938 in the village of Volochayevka in Smidovichsky district of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast.

Since August, 1955 Alexey Meleshko was in the army. In 1956, he graduated from  Naval mine and torpedo aviation school of initial training of pilots (the village of Lebyazhye), in 1959 - from Nikolaevskoe Naval mine and torpedo aviation school. Then, Alexey Meleshko served in Naval aviation (of the Black Sea fleet). Since April, 1968 he was reserved.

In 1969 Alexey Meleshko graduated from Test-Pilot School, and in 1975 - from Moscow Aviation Institute.

From August, 1969 to 1995, Alexey Meleshko was engaged in flight-test work at Tupolev design bureau. He has lifted in the sky and carried out tests of Tu-134SKh, and the first Tu-204 produced at Ulyanovsk Aviation Factory (on March 16, 1991). Alexey Meleshko has also performed tests of Tu-22M with Kh-22 rockets for stability and control. He also took part in tests of Tu-104, Tu-124, Tu-134, Tu-16, Tu-22, Tu-95M-55, Tu-144, Tu-160 and their modifications.

Alexey Meleshko lives in the city of Zhukovsky of the Moscow region.

Alexey Meleshko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1979) and medals.
