In April this yearAS-2 air-sleigh-amphibian designed by “TUPOLEV” PSC took part in elimination of after-effects of spring flood and in anti-flood training of Ministry of Extreme Situations on Oka river in Stupino district of Moscow region.

In the district where distressed people were evacuated water roughness up to 0.5 m, wind of 5-7 m/s with gust of 12 m/s were observed. In moor areas with small depth (up to 0.3 m) bush, rubbish brought to the bank by wind and separate ice-floes did not allow using of Motor-boats with suspended engines. Due to AS-2 amphibian evacuation of suffered people was made effectively.

The suffered people were transported under comfortable conditions – sheltered and heated compartment provided with shock absorption system and under physician supervision.

All tasks put in the process of the training were solved successfully and the air-sleigh confirmed declared technical characteristics. AS-2 easily passes ice-holes, patch of ice-free water and frazils and thin forest and bush of up to 1 m height. The sleigh can successfully get over slopes and rises at 15 degrees, to cross small ice blocks and to move along water surface at wave height up to 0.4 m.

The air-sleigh are high-speed ground transport and can be used in areas without roads to carry goods and passengers and as rescue vehicle as well.

Positive experience of AS-2 use in the interests of Ministry of Extreme Situations was formally approved by Management of this Ministry.
